Q: We live near Cleveland, Ohio and our 11th grade son is interested in automotive design. There are good options nearby for BA programs in industrial/automotive design but I think he will have more flexibility and be more employable with a Bachelor of Science in engineering. He gets very good grades in science and mathematics, and loves building things. He is good at drawing (cars) and computer graphics.
I am told that most engineering involves some design, and I have seen CAD and graphics courses in some engineering major coursework, but isn't there some "crossover" Bachelor of Science degree that encompasses both engineering and design?
We strongly prefer a smaller university.

Q: I am a senior in high school and have been taking a class called Project Lead the Way: Principles of Engineering. In this class, we cover the basics of what engineers do and what we need to do to increase our chances of becoming engineers in the future.
One of the ways we are supposed to achieve this goal is by interviewing an engineer. I was hoping you could help me.
